Hello beautiful souls, Today I am going to share my preparation before my first Ayahuasca Ceremony.
Like in any medical surgery we need to prepare our body to receive the benefits of this medical magical plant.
Why would be different with Ayahuasca? This sacred drink heals not only the physical body but also the soul.
Therefore, it is important to respect this plant and make the most of the experience.
Which means that part of ayahuasca drinking experience is the preparation and we should take seriously!
Here we go …
My preparation starts a week prior to the ceremony with Daan Bannaan; a beautiful soul and our dutch shaman guide to this journey.
He gave us a guidebook to read and a personal questionnaire to fill in.
The guidebook was an introduction to the ceremony we have signed up for.
It contained tools to maximise the benefits that we could obtain from the experience.
The questionnaire was an assessment to see if we were fit to take the medicine and also for him to understand the group and individuals expectations.
Ayahuasca Ceremony Preparation
It is recommended to following a vegetarian diet for a week or more but it is not mandatory.
My brother in law didn’t and his experience was as strong as mine.
I followed a vegetarian diet for a week and I also went vegan for 48 hours before I took the drink.
Things to be avoided:
- spicy, fried and fermented foods,
- dairy products,
- overripe fruits,
- processed sweets and refined sugar,
- meats especially pork and red meat,
- sexual contact.
- And off course no drugs including marijuana.
Basically, eat only fresh vegetables and fruits!.
The idea is: The better is your diet and the clean is your body, the more effective your healing will be.
The plant will have more space to work with you energetically and physically instead of cleaning you up before the treatment.
It is important to do some research to have a better idea of what is it Ayahuasca and what to expect during the ceremony.
Specially if you are not familiar with psychedelic experience like me. Google for ‘ayahuasca’ for general orientation on the topic.
I watched youtube videos, documentaries and read blogs on ayahuasca that I found online.
The guided provided by our Shaman was very good and self-explanatory.
I didn’t have many questions about the ceremony.
I was mainly curious and excited about what could happen.
Before contact the spirituality it is important to connect with yourself.
Try to meditate, go out in nature or just write down your intention for the ceremony.
I went to the gym, listened to soft music, avoided violence tv series and mediated about my intentions.
It is important to silence your mind and listen to your heart.
I used this time to think about the objectives and insights that I would like to bring to my life.
I asked the universe for permission to see through mother ayahuasca ways of working with myself negative beliefs or explore new career paths that could make me happier.
Worked very well for me to have time to talk to our shaman.
I booked my first ayahuasca experience through Awaken and Connect .
Daan Bannaan set up a skype meeting prior the event so he could answer any questions related to the guided manual he sent out and any other questions that I had.
It was important to me to discuss the topic with him and clarify any doubts.
I also talked with my brother in law that had experienced the tea for a couple of times.
It is great to talk to ayahuasca experienced drinkers so we have a better sense of what to expect.
Even though every experience is unique can help us to feel more relaxed.
To keep short and sweet these were my preparation for my first ayahuasca experience.
I had such amazing valued insights and visions that my next ceremony … I will try to be vegan and avoid sex not only for 48 hours but for 7 days!.
If you are planning to do an Ayahuasca Ceremony please try to follow a good vegan diet. I know it is not too easy if you are a meat, dairy and sex lover like me but it will be worth in the end! I promise!
Feel free to use any of my tips and please leave a message if you have any questions.
Lots of love and light,
Next, post my expectations and thoughts before the Ayahuasca Ceremony with video!
